PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

Dear friends,

On July 23rd, 2011 in Seattle, Washington an Indigenous Opening Ceremony was performed to open the A World Beyond Capitalism Conference (AWBC) and the international, multicultural networking effort needed to make it happen.

The 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism (AWBC) will include the exponentially increased vision, outreach and multicultural networking which spans 7 months (Feb 2012- through August 2012)  of dozens of gift economy women from all over the world giving workshops through interactive video teleconferences, in person conferences and pre-recorded conference that will be made available as DVD and free of charge downloadable video files for cable television, theater, home and organization viewing worldwide.  Presentations at the AWBC conference will last 7 months as we transition into a year round Africa Needs Free Justice school.

We are currently looking to add women wh
o desire to give workshops or presentations about the Gift Economy and all related topics of encouragement and empowerment.

Our desire is to integrate messages of encouragement, empowerment in an exciting way that encourages viewers to share it around the world and encourage movements at the grassroots level.  We request is that you please decline this offer to make a presentation if you are an administrative/executive part of a multinational corporation or if you are a politician (this includes a politician with the democrats, republicans, green party or any other politician's party).  This is done in order to maintain our educational independence.

How to Submit a proposal:

#1.  Visit http://www.aworldbeyondcapitalism.org and click on "contact us."

Frequently Asked Questions:

#1.  Do I have to live in a certain area and will I have to travel far to give a workshop or presentation at the conference?

Answer:  No.  We plan to make presentations and workshops available to people worldwide through interactive video teleconferences (broadcasted from your home computer), or in person conferences (if you desire to travel) and pre-recorded conferences (advance videotaping of you making a presentation from a location near you).  You can live anywhere and give a workshop.

#2.  Are men invited to give a presentation?

Answer:  Not at this time.  The Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism has welcomed all genders to give presentations for 6 years of our conference.  However, for the initial stages of the 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism, we are only accepting proposals from self-identified women (which includes transgender women) at this time.  We plan to make presentations and workshops available to people worldwide through interactive video teleconferences (broadcasted from your home computer), or in person conferences (if you desire to travel) and pre-recorded conferences (videotaping presenters making a presentation from a location near you).

#3.  What is the expected audience outreach of the conference?

Answer:  Our goal is to reach out to a minimum of 200,000 audience members and viewers worldwide in the year 2012 through interactive
video teleconferences, in person conferences and pre-recorded conferences that will be made available as DVD and free of charge downloadable video files for cable television, theater, home and organization use.  We will also send any film series 'summary' videos to film festivals around the country and also to Free Speech TV. Free Speech TV reaches 30 million U.S. homes, broadcasting full-time on DISH Network (channel 9415) and part-time on 200 community cable affiliates.  They have aired many progressive and gift economy events in the past.

Now more than ever there is a need for the world to learn about a lifestyle beyond patriarchy that empowers women, marginalized people and encourages a world of equality that does not rely upon money.

#4.  Will I need to have experience as a speaker or as a workshop presenter?

Answer:  No, not all all.  We have structured this conference so that it welcome presenters of all experience levels.

#5.  When will my workshop or presentation appear on the A World Beyond Capitalism website?

Answer:  Immediately after it is accepted which is as little as 3 days sometimes.  Presentations and workshops that have been accepted can be found by v
isiting http://www.aworldbeyondcapitalism.org and clicking on "2012 Conference Schedule."

Thank you,
Love for the people,

Organizing Collective of the 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism Conference,
'Africa Needs Free Justice.'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear friends,

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

We would like to officially invite you to volunteer and/or submit a proposal for a workshop or presentation at the Sixth Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism Conference, 'Africa Needs Free Justice.'

It is a  Mobile Event and Intentional Community created for the Design, Collaboration and Implementation of  Multicultural, Multimedia, Social Justice Projects and Groups.  It is a Training Grounds and Theory-Meets-Action Camp for Social Justice Organizers And Those Who Desire To Become Social Justice Organizers.

In order to welcome proposals from people of all backgrounds we have four methods of submitting proposals for workshops or presentations. We ask that you Read the 'about' page on our website thoroughly to understand what our conference is about before submitting proposals.

#1. Submit a proposal with your name, workshop title, workshop description and a small paragraph about yourself. If you have an online video, we will also place short online video descriptions on our website as well.

#2. We also welcome 'symposiums.'  The Word 'Symposium' has come to refer to any educational conference, or a style of educational style characterized by an openly discursive format, rather than a lecture and question–answer format.  Please feel free to reate a symposium topic or choose 10-20 titles of topics from our list of over 400 symposium topics found here:
http://africaneedsfreejustice.weebly.com/schedule.html

#3. Do you have a group project or multimedia project that you need help with? Need a website?  Need a short video made?  Want to learn how to create a podcast/online radio station for your group?  Need to learn how to use social media effectively for your group? Learn more here:
http://africaneedsfreejustice.weebly.com/start-to-finish-projects.html

#4. In the event that you cannot attend, we would be happy to accept a 10 minute video workshop from you to add to our series.  It might help bring greater publicity to your project.  We simply ask that you please use professional audio recording equipment and High Definition video as we have discovered that many media outlets that we will send the films strictly require it. We will send the video to film festivals around the country and also to Free Speech TV.  Free Speech TV reaches 30 million U.S. homes, broadcasting full-time on DISH Network (channel 9415) and part-time on 200 community cable affiliates.

It started in 2005 as a 3 day event in one city and has grown every year.  In 2011 it will run from July 2011 through August 2011 for a total of 33 days spanning three cities: Seattle, Washington, Olympia, Washington and Portland Oregon.  We plan to videotape 10 minute segments from a large number of workshops, social justice musicians and hands-on-action camps this year to create several full length, 2 hour documentaries of the conference.

The Sixth Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism Conference, 'Africa Needs Free Justice' conference provides free admission and free food.

We would be happy to provide you with housing with one of our volunteers while you are here.

Keep up the great work everyone!

The Freeschool is Partnering with a Film Project! Please Pledge Your Support!

Bikeprofilephotowithwebaddress
Dear friends,

The Freeschool is happy to announce that we are partnering with a Nationwide Film Experience project!  The Freeschool has been working very hard to get involved with filming as it is our desire to broadcast freeschool classes by film and by online video so more people of all physical abilities and financial backgrounds located all across Olympia, Thurston County, and the world can have access to those classes 24 hours a day (even in the winter when transportation is difficult)... free of charge!

The project is set to begin filming the second half of the film in Olympia, Washington from March 1st-5th, 2011.  This is very exciting for the Freeschool as many people don't have the chance to experience being part of creating a film without prior experience.

The group recently had their project approved by Kickstarter, the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world, to raise funds for this project between now and January 1st, 2011!

Kickstarter has been featured in Wired Magazine, NPR (NPR Online Radio story here and numerous NPR Kickstarter success stories featured here), The New York Times (article here) and many more news outlets all over their world for helping amazing independent, creative projects find funding!

The Freeschool does not require or request anyone to pay for attending this filming experience.  It is never a requirement, but if you would like to make a pledge to the pledge drive to ensure that this project finds funding please click here or visit www.InspireNewMedia.org

They have over 1,300 friends and 9 women's equality twitter lists following their Women's equality twitter account!

The Pledge Drive ends on January 1st, 2011.  If the project does not raise their funds by that date, kickstarter will not fund the project and kickstarter will return all funds to the people who gave a pledge so your help is greatly needed!

Thank you all!  Happy Holidays everyone.

-Freeschool Community

Pamela Wible, a practicing radical doctor from Eugene, Oregon, will give a remarkable presentation. She has given workshops around the country including at the Gesundheit Institute (as featured in the movie Patch Adams) and at Andrew Weil's Center for Integrative Medicine: "Burnout to Bliss: How Patients are Healing Physicians and Changing the Face of Medicine." She has also volunteered during the Hurricane Katrina at the AstroDome among other places and later given presentations on "Googling My Way to Katrina: Breaking Rank When Necessary" and "Community-Designed Ideal Medical Care: The Grassroots Health Care Revolution." She was also in the middle of the 1999 protests that successfully shut down the 1999 WTO in Seattle and found herself surrounded by police shooting people at point black range with rubber bullets while the police threw concussion grenades at people

and she decided, in her words "to engage in my own form of protest." Her love-centered work combined with her radical experience and workshops have resulted in inspired audiences throughout America. Dear friends,

Just so you know, I'm listening to 'Forty Six & 2' by Tool while I type this...and that is the pumped up song you should imagine while reading this! Yeahhhh! Oh, and then I'll be listening to 'Black (LIVE)' by Pearl Jam on their 'Live at Benaroya Hall' CD. Good, magical music for a magical blog post and podcast I'm about to give ya! :)

Above and below are videos of Pamela, a good friend of mine. We both gave workshop at the Healthcare Justice Gathering at the Gesundheit Institute (as featured in the movie Patch Adams). She was friggin' electric... figuratively and literally...because she instructed everyone, including many medical students, how to remain a practicing, social justice, doctor without burning out and going into debt...and even gave everyone electric flashing glow in the dark steel blue and red earings! Why? Because healthcare Justice was meant to be fun, friends! Hell yeah! It was awesome later that night at the dance party with all the lights out watching red and blue faces flashing in the dark! Hella'cool! She has given some of the best doctor presentations and videos I have ever seen. No joke. The above one and the below two are just a sample and are short.

The wildest things happened too. When we both left the Healthcare Justice Gathering from West Virginia... She on an Amtrak train, I on Greyhound... I headed for Olympia... she headed for Eugene, Oregon.... The Greyhound had a lay-over in Portland...and I decided to walk around outside the Greyhound and maybe catch a later bus to Olympia, Washington later... and guess who yelled out my name? Pamela! No way! Yes way! Pamela had overslept and got off in Portland to Stretch.

She called my name, we hugged and were both bewildered by the whole thing. It was wild. Went and got something to eat and I saw her off on her train to Eugene and then jumped back on Greyhound later headed to my beloved Olympia.

A month ago or so I also sent her the hard-core, uncut Oscar Grant article that I wrote (found by clicking here) that I wrote...and ya know what she did? She loved it and sent it to all of her patients and friends! And I know she did it because she kept me on the CC email list! Now that is solidarity for a better world!

So as I encourage you to check out her videos... it actually makes me happy to do it! Because she is awesome!

I'm trying to convince her to do an in-person interview on our radio show. It will be the event of the year, friends! Look forward to that possibility friends!

Keep working for a better world!

WOoOOoooooooo Yeah!
